The Park Cities Learning Disabilities Association is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to advancing the education and general welfare of children with learning disabilities. Since 1975, PCLDA has provided support for children with learning differences, their parents, teachers and other professionals.
PCLDA believes that every child with learning differences can be successful at school, in relationships, and in the community—given the right opportunities. Join PCLDA in creating these opportunities.
PCLDA has joined with HPISD to form a parent support group that meets monthly at members’ homes. You must be a PCLDA member to receive the support group information via email from PCLDA.
The Parent Support Group exists to provide support and encouragement to parents who live in the Highland Park Independent School District and have children with special needs. They offer a safe and confidential environment for you to process feelings and concerns with other parents who share similar challenges. They meet once a month to discuss a variety of topics, including your relationship with your spouse, communication with the extended family, and stress management, to name a few. Topics provide a loose structure for the group, but we are not an educational group. Our goal is to help you process your most pressing concerns and receive support for these. They are an open group so feel free to come late or leave early.
Our PCLDA Campus Liaisons are parents. They have a child with a learning difference on the campus they represent. They know the campus and the HPISD staff. They volunteered to be available to other parents. They will help you to know the campus better and to answer questions you may have. Our PCLDA Board members are committed to helping parents and teachers and welcome your questions.
