School Day Information

Arrival

  • 7:30AM: Morning carpool begins. Parents should enter the queue on Douglas Avenue. Drivers may enter the queue from either Normandy Avenue or Beverly Drive. Students should only exit vehicles from the passenger side nearest the sidewalk. Students walking or biking to school should use designated crosswalks and follow crossing guard directions at all times.

  • 7:45AM: Students begin transitioning to classrooms and preparing for the instructional day. Families are encouraged to complete drop-off promptly to help ensure a smooth and safe arrival process for all students.

  • 7:55AM: Classes begin promptly, and all students should be in their classrooms ready to learn. Please plan accordingly to avoid tardies and congestion during morning arrival.

  • Late Arrival: Students arriving after the start of the school day must enter through the main entrance and check in through the front office before proceeding to class.

  • Early Arrival: Students should not arrive on campus before 7:30AM unless participating in a supervised school activity.

Dismissal

  • 3:10PM: Carpool dismissal begins for all Pre-K through fourth grade carpool riders. Students will remain inside the building until their carpool number is called. Parents should display their assigned Bradfield carpool tag during pickup.

  • 3:15PM: Walker and biker dismissal begins. Students walking, biking, or meeting parents outside will dismiss at this time. Please utilize designated crosswalks and follow all directions from crossing guards and staff members.

  • Walker & Biker Dismissal: There are three bike rack stations located on campus. Students should walk bikes while on sidewalks surrounding the fenced school property. Pre-K students must be picked up by an adult and may not dismiss with an older sibling. Kindergarten students may dismiss with an older sibling only after written parent permission has been submitted. First grade students may walk or bike home independently only with written parent permission.

  • Independent Walkers/Bikers: Second through fourth grade students may walk or bike home independently after dismissal. Families with younger siblings should communicate pickup arrangements with teachers in advance.

  • Dismissal Changes: Families are encouraged to maintain consistent dismissal routines whenever possible. Any transportation or dismissal changes should be communicated to the teacher and front office prior to dismissal.

  • EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY PROGRAM (until 6PM): Offered by The Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) from 3:15—6:00PM. Contact Cha Cha Bjork in the A.L.L. Office at 214-780-3380 or email bjorkc@hpisd.org. Charges apply.

Carpool Instructions

Morning Carpool:
Morning carpool traffic should enter on Douglas Avenue only. Drivers may join the queue from Normandy Avenue or Beverly Drive. Vehicles may NOT enter the queue line from Mockingbird Lane. Once students have safely exited the vehicle, drivers should continue forward and follow the flow of traffic on Southern Avenue.

Afternoon Carpool:
Afternoon carpool traffic should enter on Douglas Avenue from the north only via Normandy Avenue. Please display your Bradfield carpool tag during pickup. Students will be released from inside the building once their number is called. Drivers should remain in their vehicles at all times.

Important Carpool Notes:

  • Southern Avenue is a one-way street during carpool operations
  • No right turns are permitted from Southern Avenue onto Armstrong Avenue or from Armstrong Avenue onto Mockingbird Lane between 7:15AM–4:00PM
  • Do not cut in line or block residential driveways
  • Students should never exit vehicles from center traffic lanes
  • Drivers should remain in vehicles while in the queue lane
  • Please ensure all caregivers understand Bradfield carpool procedures
