Dear Bradfield Families,
The Bradfield PTA welcomes everyone to the 2019-20 school year. This is a particularly exciting year as we are back “Home” in our new school at 4300 Southern Ave. I am honored to serve as this year’s PTA President alongside an incredible group of dedicated parents.
The 2019-2020 PTA Board has been hard at work planning exciting events for our students and parents. All of our events will honor Bradfield’s long-standing traditions. Moving back “Home” allows us to bring bike rodeo back for our 3rd and 4th graders and Great Friend’s Day returns to the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. This year, we are excited to replace Adventure Dash with a new “Reading Rodeo” where 100% of the proceeds of the event will stay with Bradfield!
Our events simply could not happen as without our selfless, amazing Bradfield parent volunteers. We encourage parents to join the PTA (either through Back to School Sign up in August of via this link) and volunteer throughout the year. Please contact specific event chairs for further information or visit VSP to sign up for current volunteer opportunities.
The PTA also plays a large part in fundraising for the school. Bradfield relies heavily on the support provided by our families and corporate partners to meet the on-going needs of our school. HPISD will send over $105M (or 68%) of local tax dollars to the state of Texas this year. In order to maintain the caliber of education in our district, the PTA and our generous families help bridge the gap left as a result of the state funding formula.
How do we spend the money raised?
Last year the PTA and Dads Club gifted just over $900,000 to Bradfield. We fund ongoing expenses like:
  • Teaching assistants to help students one-on-one
  • Passport to Spanish program
  • Classroom libraries
  • Teacher continuing education and Masters programs
  • Paper, toner, and copier leases
  • Science supplies
  • Buses for field trips
  • Computers, tablets and software
  • The “New” Learning Garden program
  • Teacher appreciation, and more…
How can I help?
Please consider Bradfield in your charitable giving. This is a direct investment in your child’s daily educational experience. You have an opportunity to make a difference in our school. Every dollar you donate stays with our school and is not subject to recapture.
The easiest way to support Bradfield is through our Annual Family Giving Campaign that happens during Back to School Sign Up. We also have event-based fundraisers throughout the year like our new Reading Rodeo (our fall student fundraiser that replaces Adventure Dash), the Fall Carnival and the Bradfield Auction (our largest fundraising event). We hope you will consider supporting these events, too!
